The IIDA Ohio Kentucky Design Awards celebrates design through the recognition of outstanding project work in all Interior Design practice areas. They gather together as a community to salute our chapter’s missions to celebrate design excellence, and advocate for the profession of interior design.
I was asked by the Columbus Chapter of IIDA to help them create a brand identity and collateral for their revival of their design awards.
The identity needed to follow IIDA's new brand guidelines and their committee wanted to include an element of materiality into the design. I was limited to using Georgia and Gotham for creating the logo, but given free creative control over all the other elements.
I presented three design directions to the committee for their review. They opted to move forward with option 1. I conducted a review of several top commercial manufacturers' websites to determine the top trending materials being used by architects and interior designers. I chose a Calcutta marble with minimal veining to use as a background for brand graphics and a warm copper metal finish.
